Former Carny Gets 32-Year Rape Term

From Staff And Wire Reports

A former carnival worker was sentenced Thursday to 32 years in prison for repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl he grabbed outside a Spokane Valley convenience store in March.

Terry Purcell, 31, was convicted by a Superior Court jury on Sept. 18 of four counts of first-degree rape.

The victim testified Purcell raped her behind a building on March 15 before taking her to his trailer at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds, gagging her with a tennis ball, tying her up and raping her several more times, once with a baseball bat.

He claimed the girl consented to the sex.

Purcell was arrested just after midnight March 16 when a security guard saw him and the girl walking across the fairgrounds and alerted Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies. , DataTimes
