Dragons, Nwc Win

Dan Dhillon and Whit Spencer scored second-half goals to lead St. George’s to a 2-0 victory over Wahluke at Kennewick in the first round of the State B boys soccer playoffs.

Dhillon’s goal in the 59th minute came on an assist from Eric Johnson. Ten minutes later, Spencer scored on a throw-in from Mark Cook.

The Dragons will play NWC in Kennewick tonight at 7:30 with the winner advancing to the semifinals.

Brandon Solares scored a pair of goals and Jeff Heeter added another as Northwest Christian topped Sunnyside Christian at Kennewick.

Heeter staked the Crusaders to a 1-0 lead 8 minutes into the game. Solares made it 2-0 with a goal at the 15-minute mark. Solares’ second goal came with 13 minutes left in the game.

Girls swimming

Mercer Island won its sixth straight girls Class AAA-AA championship at Federal Way.

Mercer Island finished with 322 points. Pullman tied for 22nd with 28 points.

Pullman’s Autumn Sample finished second in the 100-meter butterfly and eighth in the 200 individual medley.

Idaho football

Sandpoint made it to the Idaho State A-1 Division II championship game with a 14-13 win over Lewiston at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow.

The Bulldogs (8-3) will take on Eagle (8-3) for the title Friday at Boise State’s Bronco Stadium. Eagle advanced with a 27-12 win over Idaho Falls.
