Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Here is a hint to lengthen refrigerator storage for containers of sour cream and similar items. I do not remember where I read this - perhaps in your column many years ago?

Upend the plastic container after the seal has been broken. This causes the contents to fall down and cover the lid, keeping air out. Of course, proper refrigerator temperature must be maintained. - Jane McDermott, Mechanicsburg, Pa.

This hint was printed in our column more than 30 years ago and is still a good one today. Note: Be sure the lid is on tight! - Heloise

Dear Heloise: To prevent shower curtains and hangers from sticking to the rod, simply polish the rod with a crumpled-up length of waxed paper. Curtains and hangers will glide smoothly over the rods. - Deanne Derrevere, Denver
