Teens Welcome Around Camp Fire

Heather Storseth, North Central

When you think of Camp Fire do you picture cute little girls selling mints?

No way is that reflective of today’s Camp Fire, which is for both boys and girls from kindergarten through 12th grade.

“Teens in Action” is a Camp Fire program designed to get teens involved in community service and leadership. Through a variety of training, workshops, activities and experiences, you can gain life skills, enjoy time with other teens and make a difference in our community. It also looks great on your college resume.

S.A.I.L. (Self-Acceptance Is Life) teams are made up of Camp Fire teens, many of whom have been personally touched by suicide, who offer teen suicide awareness presentations to junior and senior high schools, community centers and churches. These presentations raise the awareness of suicide warning signs and provide information on how to help a friend. Both S.A.I.L. and “Teens in Action” meet the first Monday of every month. The next meeting is Dec. 1.

Camp Fire is a very supportive place. It will give you direction, get you going and keep you active. Grab a friend and check us out. Call 747-6191 for meeting times and place.
