Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: This is a real money-saving project that I use particularly during the Christmas season.

During the year, whenever I shop at discount stores, I check the household department looking for reduced curtains, sheets and pillowcases. I look for anything in red, green or anything else that could be used for Christmas colors.

I buy curtains to use as tablecloths. You’ll have two panels, which can be used for two table covers.

I remove the stitching at the top, for the rods, which gives a little more length.

Sometimes I am lucky enough to find matching sheets and pillowcases. I use the sheet as a tree skirt and the pillowcases to cover my throw pillows. This gives a well-coordinated decorating blend. - Dianna Logue, Phoenix
