Morris In Deep Again With Assault Charge

Associated Press

Bam Morris can’t seem to avoid trouble, even at a birthday party.

Morris was charged Monday with second-degree assault after a woman accused him of choking her at a party given by the family of Baltimore Ravens teammate Orlando Brown. The affair took place at a Baltimore banquet hall Sunday night, hours after the Ravens tied Philadelphia 10-10 in a game that Morris sat out because of toe and ankle injuries.

The assault charge could be used to bolster attempts to revoke Morris’ probation for a 1996 drug conviction.

Morris was at a birthday party for Brown when the assault took place, according to a police report filed by April Dawn Brittain.

Brittain claimed she was talking to Morris when the player’s wife, Stephanie, accused her of having an affair with him. An argument ensued, and according to the police report Morris choked Brittain.

In a complaint filed Monday, Mrs. Morris said it was Brittain who tried to slap her husband and punched her in the right eye. Mrs. Morris said she hit Brittain back and began choking her until her husband pulled her off and took her back to the car.

Mrs. Morris said that Brittain had a relationship with Morris before he was married and had stalked and harassed him.

Team spokesman Kevin Byrne said Morris will remain with the team and practice today. The Ravens were off Tuesday.
