Leonard Cantrell Coeur d’Alene

Service for Leonard Warner Cantrell, 76, will be today at 2 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Cantrell, who was born in Wellington, Kan., died Saturday.

Mr. Cantrell enlisted in the Marines and served during World War II as an aerial gunner with the Army. He received the Bronze Star.

He then attended Wichita University in Kansas. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1955 and sold Ford products for more than 40 years. He recently worked at Lake City Ford.

Mr. Cantrell was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Elks Lodge and served as the first president of the Gyro Club.

He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Coeur d’Alene Golf Club, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eileen “Billy”; a son, Steve Cantrell of Phoenix; a brother, Jack Cantrell of Kansas; and a grandson, Phillip Cantrell of California.

Harold Weiler Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Harold D. Weiler, 52, will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. A service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Weiler, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.

He grew up and graduated from high school in Deer Park. After graduating from Eastern Washington University, he began a lifelong career as a Boy Scout.

Mr. Weiler served as executive director with the Boy Scouts, and lived and worked in Spokane, Marysville and Puyallup, Wash., and Arizona.

In 1988 he retired for health reasons and moved to Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Weiler was a member of the Kiwanis.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Spicer of Puyallup, Chrissy Weiler of Portland and Virginia Weiler of Coeur d’Alene; his parents, Milo and Virginia Weiler of Coeur d’Alene; two sisters, Sandra Thomas of Post Falls and Sharon Holt of Spokane; and one granddaughter.

Maye Burns Osburn, Idaho

Service for Maye Bishop Burns, 92, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Osburn Community Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Osburn Day Cemetery. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burns, who was born in Kansas, died Monday.

She grew up in Kansas and graduated from the Normal School of Hays, Kan.

Mrs. Burns moved to Osburn in 1937 and served as postmaster of Osburn from 1945 until he retired in 1969. She was a founding member of the Osburn Community Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for more than 25 years.

Mrs. Burns was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association and the Osburn Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a former member of Zona International.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank.

Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Magnuson of Wallace; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Osburn Community Baptist Church or the Silver Wood Good Samaritan Center in Silverton.

Margaret Wilson Mead

Service for Margaret Mary Wilson, 88, will be today at 10:30 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Wilson, who was born in Kansas, died Monday.

She lived in Baker, Ore., and Murray, Idaho, before moving to Dalton Garden, Idaho, in 1941. In 1979 she moved to Mead to be near family.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald.

Survivors include a son, Jack Wilson of Spokane; three daughters, Alice Warkentin of Canada, June Oksendahl of Fruitland, Idaho, and Gladys Nyberg of Mead; two brothers, Pete Meehan of Alaska and Joe Gabelhei of Deer Lodge, Mont.; four sisters, Kay Johnson and Ada Singleton, both of Montana, Galdys Cooley of Colorado and Loretta Oliver of Canada; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Everett Dalton Priest River, Idaho

Memorial service for Everett Dalton, 73, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River.

Mr. Dalton, who was born in Polk County, Wis., died Monday. In 1951 he married Lillian Klemenok in Reno, Nev.

He worked in the logging industry as a truck driver in the Priest River and Bonner County area before retiring.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Dalton of Priest River; three daughters, Terry Boncz and Tracy Cox, both of Priest River, and Vicky Dalton of Spokane; a sister, Norma Billings of Petaluma, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Elwood Howe Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Elwood S. Howe, 66, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Kammann Mortuary in Yuma, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Howe, who was born in Rice, Wash., died Monday.

He served in the Navy.

Mr. Howe worked as the principal owner of Lake City Disposal in Coeur d’Alene and later retired.

He spent summers at his home in Coeur d’Alene and winters in Yuma.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; two sons, Kent and Brian; four sisters, Ruby, Bea, Nellie and Gladys; and a brother, LeRoy.

Memorial contributions may be made to a hospice charity.

Agnes ‘Mickey’ Peterson Coeur d’Alene

No service is planned for Agnes “Mickey” Miller Peterson, 84. Interment will take place at Palm Cemetery in Las Vegas. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Peterson, who was born in Kentucky, died Wednesday.

She attended school in Iowa before settling in Wyoming.

Ms. Peterson spent most of her life in Laramie, Wyo., before moving to Athol, Idaho, in 1978. In 1992 she moved to Coeur d’Alene Manor.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Green of Post Falls; a brother, Robert Flint of Denver; a sister, Nettie Lauck of Arizona; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pearl James Emmingham Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Pearl James Emmingham, 88, will be Friday at 4 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Emmingham, who was born in North Dakota, died Monday.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane and owned the Lighthouse sporting goods store in Coeur d’Alene for 24 years.

Mrs. Emmingham was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Master in Coeur d’Alene and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization for 43 years.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Les James in 1982 and John Emmingham in 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara LePard of Coeur d’Alene and Joan Evans of Spokane; a brother, Vernon Sorenson of Marysville, Wash.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Fuchs Potlatch, Idaho

Service for Dorothy N. Fuchs, 78, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potlatch. Cremation will follow the service. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fuchs, who was born in Carthage, Mo., died Tuesday.

In 1952 she married Glen Fuchs in Kennewick, and they made their home in Potlatch.

Mrs. Fuchs had worked a few years for the Moscow (Idaho) and Pullman Laundry. She also cooked for a sorority at the University of Idaho in Moscow for one year.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potlatch.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Ronald Epler of Onaway, Idaho; a daughter, Marsha Stansell of Bellevue, Wash.; two brothers, Leland and Paul Bryant, both of Peculiar, Mo.; two sisters, Maxine Robertson of Springfield, Mo., and Cleone Young of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
