Women’s Cup Set

Compiled From Wire Services

Starting in New Jersey and ending in Pasadena, Calif., the 1999 Women’s World Cup will be played at eight sites as organizers try to spur women’s soccer in the United States.

The 32-game, 16-team tournament, tentatively scheduled for June 19-July 10, 1999, will look much like the men’s 1994 World Cup, with five of the same stadiums: Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., Foxboro Stadium outside Boston, Soldier Field in Chicago, Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, Calif., and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

The other sites are Civic Stadium in Portland, Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif., and Jack Kent Cooke Stadium in Landover, Md.
