Breakfast With Santa Kicks Off Rotary’s Festival Of Trees Today

The 1997 Festival of Trees kicks off today with the Santa’s Breakfast at the Spokane Valley Mall from 8 to 10 a.m.

The breakfast will be held in the food court, with fruit, donuts, granola bars and juice available for $3. Children will be able to visit with Santa, participate in fun activities and watch several entertainers, including a balloon artist.

Each child will receive a gift and door prizes will be given away.

Proceeds of the breakfast will benefit the Valley Center of Sharing, the Hugs to Health Daycare at Valley Hospital and Medical Center and the new Valley senior center and park at Mirabeau Point.

The event is sponsored by the Spokane Valley Rotary.

Hearing on Liberty Lake project

A public hearing on the proposed MacKenzie Bay Beach Properties subdivision at Liberty Lake will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Public Works Building, 1026 W. Broadway.

Developer Rex Harder is seeking approval to subdivide a 24.5-acre parcel into 35 lots for single-family homes. The land is on the east side of Liberty Lake, one-quarter mile south of the intersection of Lakeside and Neyland roads.

Citizens can view the county file on the proposed development between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays in the Planning Division of the Public Works Building.

Tour Valley Couplet on TV

Wondering about the proposed Valley Couplet and realigned Sprague Avenue freeway interchange?

A computer animated tour of the proposed road construction projects will air twice a week on City Cable 5 through the end of the year.

Spokane County Public Works, in partnership with the City of Spokane, will show the 10-minute video tour at 6 p.m. each Friday and 8:30 p.m. each Saturday.
