Sex Offender Living Downtown

A Level III sex offender has moved into the downtown Spokane area.

James A. Peterschick, 39, has been convicted of having sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated assault and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. He is considered at high risk to reoffend.

The conditions of his release include that Peterschick have no contact with children, may not possess alcohol and may not go to places where alcohol is served.

He is described as white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

James M. Comstock, born in 1838 in Wisconsin, arrived in Spokane in time to witness the great fire of 1889 and start Spokane Dry Goods with Robert Paterson. It became the Crescent, Spokane’s premier department store for a century. He also worked in real estate and owned other businesses. He served a term as Spokane mayor, starting in 1899. James Comstock died in 1918.
