Mike Bibby scored 22 points, 15 on 3-pointers, and had seven assists as top-ranked Arizona beat Boston College 99-69 Monday in the opening round of the Maui Invitational in Lahaina, Hawaii.

The defending national champions (2-0) took a double-digit lead less than 4 minutes into the game. The Eagles (1-1) pulled within four points midway through the second quarter, but got no closer.

Arizona got 17 points from Michael Dickerson and four other Wildcats were in double figures.

Arizona will take on Kentucky in the semifinals in a rematch of last year’s NCAA Tournament championship game. Duke will play Missouri in the other semifinal game.

At Lahaina, Hawaii, freshman Elton Brand scored 23 points and the Blue Devils (3-0) overpowered the Silverswords (0-2).

At Lahaina, Hawaii, it wasn’t pretty, but the Wildcats (2-0), despite shooting 36 percent from the floor, handed the Colonials (3-1) their first loss of the season.

At Cincinnati, the Musketeers (3-0) forced a school-record 38 turnovers and had eight players score during a 19-0 run en route to a win over the Indians (1-4).

(11) Connecticut 72, Coppin St. 50

At Hartford, Conn., Richard Hamilton scored 20 points to lead the Huskies (4-0) over the Golden Eagles (0-1).

(17) Mississippi 81, Ark.-Pine Bluff 36

At Oxford, Miss., Jason Smith had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Rebels (3-0) past the Golden Lions (1-3).

Appalachian St. 66, (25) N.C. Charlotte 60

At Boone, N.C., Tyson Patterson scored 23 points and the Mountaineers (3-0) held on down the stretch for the upset over the 49ers (0-2).
