Christina Cronrath Receives Scholarship

Christina Cronrath, Spokane, has received a $2,500 Lilly for Learning Diabetes Scholarship from the pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly Co.

More than 400 applicants from 45 states competed for the scholarships granted to 50 students.

Recipients were selected based on academic achievement, diabetes-related activities, extracurricular activities, a written essay and recommendations.

Four Inland Northwest students have been named to the dean’s list at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., for spring semester:

Kelcey Milbrandt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Milbrandt, Colbert; Becky Van Gemert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Van Gemert, Spokane; Matthew Frazier, son of Marty Frazier of Spokane; and Kerry Donovan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Donovan, Spokane.

Dawn Rutherford, Spokane, earned a master of science degree last June from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Ill.

William White has been named to the dean’s list with high honors at Vanderbilt University’s School of Engineering in Nashville, Tenn. He is the son of Perry “Mike” Taylor of Spokane and a graduate of East Valley High School.

Arrupe and Ignatian Scholars for the 1997-98 school year have been named by Gonzaga Prep, based on entrance exam scores and academic records.

The students, their elementary or junior high schools and parents are:

Arrupe Scholars: Kathryn Codd, St. Charles; daughter of Bill and Diane Codd; Amanda House, Cataldo, daughter of Creigh and Jan House.

Ignatian Scholars: Robin Bell, All Saints, daughter of David and Ann Bell; Thomas Kuder, Cataldo, son of Phil and Toni Kuder; Evan McLean, St. Charles, son of Jim and Kathy McLean; Matthew Nickerson, Greenacres Jr. High, son of Doug and Isabell Nickerson; David Pringle, Assumption, son of Robert and Martha Pringle; Stephen Shogan, Assumption, son of Joe and Maureen Shogan; and Theodore Wissink, St. Francis, son of William and Ann Wissink.

Army Pvt. Justin Cullens has graduated from the Bradley fighting vehicle system mechanic course at Fort Knox, Radcliff, Ky. He is the son of Kelly Parkhurst of Deer Park and Terra Parkhurst of Spokane, and a 1995 graduate of Deer Park High School.

Airman 1st Class Clarence Tate III has graduated from the biomedical equipment maintenance apprentice course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas. He is the son of Clarence and Izola Tate of Spokane, and a 1995 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Airman David Jennings has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Ron and Ruth Jennings, Nine Mile Falls, and a 1995 graduate of Lakeside High School.
