A grocery store clerk was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole Monday for stabbing to death her lover’s wife, an act the prosecution described as a human sacrifice birthday gift.
A jury convicted Diana Haun, 36, of kidnapping, conspiracy and murder in the death of Sherri Dally.
In the penalty phase, the jury chose not to recommend the death sentence.
Jurors said they believed testimony that Haun was influenced by her lover, Michael Dally, who faces the same charges.
Sherri Dally was kidnapped from a Target store parking lot on May 6, 1996. Her remains were found nearly a month later. She had been stabbed and dumped in a remote area.
