Climber Scales Peak Despite Injury

An 800-foot plunge down a steep slope and a broken pelvis didn’t end Ole Hemminghytt’s climb up a mountain. It just slowed him down a few hours.

“He is one tough guy,” his friend Hans Hoyas was quoted as saying Tuesday by the Nordlands Framtid newspaper.

The 32-year-old Hemminghytt was out hunting last week with Hoyas and two other friends near the Arctic town of Beiarn, 520 miles north of Oslo. The team split up, and Hemminghytt was on his own when he fell.

After an agonizing climb, he reached the top of the mountain, where his friends found him four hours later.
