Would-Be Bride’s Jilter Runs, Can’t Hide

Five days after stranding his bride at the altar before 250 guests, Michael Tasos was holed up Thursday in a Tahiti hotel, refusing contact with the media.

Tasos slammed the door in the face of a photographer and television camera crew who showed up at his room in the Beachcomber hotel, where he arrived Tuesday on a flight from Los Angeles.

Hotel personnel, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he was booked until Nov. 29 at the Beachcomber, a luxury hotel where he and Nicole Contos were planning to spend their honeymoon.

Tasos, 35, has remained in his room ever since his arrival on this bucolic South Pacific island.

On Saturday, Contos waited in vain at a church for Tasos to show up and then went to newspaper and television stations to tell the newspapers to tell her woes of vanished love.

Contos, 27, was left at the altar Saturday but went ahead with the $65,000 reception anyway. She even danced.

Since then, she has appeared on the “Today” show and has been on the front pages of New York newspapers. For his part, Tasos told the Daily News he was totally comfortable with my decision” and planned to relax during his stay in Tahiti.
