Sophia Gerkensmeyer Spokane

Sophia Emma (Bremer) Gerkensmeyer is 100 years old today.

Mrs. Gerkensmeyer was born Nov. 29, 1897, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., and has lived in the Inland Northwest for 80 years.

She and Herman “Dick” Gerkensmeyer were married in 1923. He died in 1990. They had no children.

Mrs. Gerkensmeyer made candy at the Davenport Hotel, the Tru Blue Biscuit Co. and Cooks Candy.
