Witnesses Sought In Shooting Death

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police were still searching Saturday for two young girls who saw a 13-year-old friend accidentally shot to death at a Missoula residence Friday.

Andrew Brown of Alberton was shot in the head when a 14-year-old friend pulled the trigger of a hunting rifle that he thought was unloaded, Detective Gregg Willoughby said.

The 14-year-old called 9-1-1 and administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation until an ambulance arrived, but three other youngsters - girls 10 and 16 and a boy 12 - fled.

The 14-year-old was taken into custody. The Brown boy died at St. Patrick Hospital.
