Drugs Said Involved

Compiled From Wire Services

Kris Johnson and Jelani McCoy could be sidelined from UCLA basketball games until early January as part of sanctions for their violations of the school’s drug-testing program for its student-athletes, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported.

Johnson, a 6-foot-4 senior, and McCoy, a 6-9 junior, were suspended indefinitely from the Bruins’ basketball program Monday for what athletic director Peter Dalis would only refer to as “violations of athletic department policies and team rules.”

But the Press-Telegram was told that the players’ suspensions were the result of “repeated” positive testings for marijuana while being randomly tested for drug use during their UCLA careers.
