Area Junior Miss Winners Earn State Pageant Awards

Leah La Rae Hansen and Nichole Marie “Nikki” Farr, won their respective home town junior miss pageants and went on to compete in the Idaho Junior Miss Program in Pocatello, Idaho.

Hansen, the Wallace Junior Miss, and daughter of Mike and Karen Hansen of Wallace, received one of four state choreographer awards for hard work and initiative.

Hansen is active in school spirit and Spanish as an Honor Roll student, and participated in choir at Wallace High School.

Farr, the Priest River Junior Miss, and daughter of Pat and Ed Farr, received six scholarships at her local competition and will receive an additional participant scholarship from the state program.

Farr is an honors student at Priest River Lamanna High School and serves as the senior class vice-president. She participates in Booster Club, Cross Country and won a superior rating during a piccolo/flute duet at the Solo and Ensemble Contest at the University of Idaho.

Cheryl Cary, who has served 10 years as the chairman of the Priest River Junior Miss Program, received Idaho’s Outstanding Program Chairman at the State’s Junior Miss Scholarship Program held recently in Pocatello.

Cary will now be competing for the National Chairman Award based on skills needed to run a successful Junior Miss Program.

Ed Richards, has been named by his peers as the Best Western Templin’s Resort’s employee of the month for August.

Richards, started employment with the resort in December 1995 in the maintenance department and was promoted to inside maintenance assistant in January.

He was cited for helping make the resort maintenance team one of the best they have ever had.
