Man Crushed By Metro Bus

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man fell into the path of a Metro Transit bus at a downtown bus tunnel Thursday and was crushed to death, authorities said.

The accident happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. at the Westlake Center station and briefly disrupted bus service, police spokeswoman Christie-Lynne Bonner said.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was walking along the edge of the curb. He turned to look at the bus and then started to walk backward along the curb, Bonner said.

“He appeared to slip and fall into the path of the bus, which then ran over him,” she said.
