Andy Katzenmoyer isn’t hiring a press agent to publicize himself for national awards. All the Ohio State linebacker has to do is rely on opposing players to spread the word.

Katzenmoyer intercepted a fourth-quarter pass to end Iowa’s last hope and also threw a block as a fullback on the decisive touchdown as the Buckeyes (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten) shut down Tavian Banks and the No. 11 Hawkeyes (4-1, 1-1) 23-7 Saturday at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

“Katzenmoyer probably won the Butkus Award today,” Banks said after being held to 84 yards, 125 below his national-best 209 per game. “He was all over the field. He’s the real deal. He was probably in our backfield more than I was.”

Katzenmoyer’s crunching block on Eric Thigpen paved the way for the first of Michael Wiley’s two touchdown runs, a 1-yard burst in the second quarter that put Ohio State ahead 10-0.

“It was interesting on offense. It’s nice to be the hitter instead of the hittee,” Katzenmoyer said. “I hope to get the ball in that situation someday.”

On defense, he had nine solos and two assisted tackles, two tackles for a loss and broke up a pass.

(3) Nebraska 56, (17) K-State 26 Ahman Green ran for 193 yards and four touchdowns in three quarters and the Cornhuskers swamped the Wildcats at Lincoln, Neb.

QB Scott Frost added 98 yards rushing and a touchdown as Nebraska (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) defeated Kansas State (3-1, 0-1) for the 29th consecutive time.

At Fort Worth, Texas, Chris Keldorf’s two fourth-quarter touchdown passes crushed a rally by the Horned Frogs (0-4) as the Tar Heels (5-0) escaped with a non-conference victory.

Trailing 17-0, TCU converted two fumbles into 10 fourth-quarter points.

At Bloomington, Ind., Brian Griese passed for 204 yards and one touchdown as the Wolverines (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) rolled over the Hoosiers (1-4, 0-2).

Damian Allen hit Tavarus Hogans with a 12-yard touchdown pass with 12 seconds left and the Commodores (2-3, 0-3 SEC) elected to go for 2 before consecutive delay-of-game penalties ended that idea.

At Athens, Ga., Robert Edwards rushed for 102 yards and caught the first of Mike Bobo’s three TD passes as Georgia (4-0, 2-0 SEC) hammered Mississippi State (3-2, 2-2).
