As National Hunting and Fishing Week closes this weekend, the organizer of national events said he hopes people remember at least one point about sportsmen.

“We would like the American people to understand the role that sportsmen and women play in conservation,” said Chris Chaffin, national director of NHF Day, which is sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

“On the average, for every tax dollar put into wildlife management, nine dollars are put in by hunters and anglers.” Much of those revenues come from the purchase of hunting tags and fishing licenses.
