Allen Will Get $1 Million Per Show

The Hollywood Reporter

Actor one-upping continues to drive up the cost of producing sitcoms, as Tim Allen’s reps have reached an agreement with Disney to pay the “Home Improvement” star $1 million-plus per episode, in the same ballpark as Jerry Seinfeld’s salary for his NBC sitcom “Seinfeld,” sources reported.

Allen’s pay hike will kick in next year on the ABC sitcom, for which he is also listed as an executive producer, as Seinfeld is for his comedy series.

A representative for Disney declined comment.

While both “Seinfeld” and “Home Improvement” are among the most profitable series in off-network syndication, “Seinfeld’s” NBC numbers are much higher than “Home Improvement’s.” The NBC sitcom is routinely the highest-rated comedy series on television.

Sources put Seinfeld’s current contract at $1 million per episode, though he may make more in his capacities as writer and executive producer on the show.
