City Light To Supply Power To Nordstrom

Compiled From Wire Services

Nordstrom will power its 38 California stores with electricity purchased from Seattle City Light, the clothing store chain said Tuesday.

Under California’s deregulation of the electric power industry, consumers in that state can choose their electricity supplier, beginning Jan. 1.

Seattle-based Nordstrom said its agreement calls for City Light to provide 15 to 30 megawatts of power to the California-Oregon border. Nordstrom will pay local utility costs once the power reaches California, through local utility distribution companies.
