Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I made new scarf drapes for my double windows by recycling three white lace panels. I took the top and bottom hems out of one, and only the top hem out of the other two. I sewed them together with a large needle and dental floss.

I bought two white wall plant brackets for less than $4 and screwed them to the appropriate spot on the wall above each corner. The long “scarf” was then draped over the two plant brackets.

I used extra-long straight pins to keep them in place. To finish, I recycled a long artificial vine by placing it across the top of the scarf. - A Reader

I love your idea! What a nice, low-cost window treatment for any room in the house. It only takes a little thought and some creative sewing to put things together. Glad you wrote. - Heloise
