V8’S ‘Splash’ Gets Mixed Panel Ratings

Rick Bonino Food Editor

Everybody knows what’s in V8. Tomato juice, right?

Not necessarily. The brand’s new “Splash” line combines carrot juice - not tomato juice - with such fruit flavors as pineapple, kiwi, lime and mango (not to mention sugar, at a sizable 27 grams per cup).

The Tropical Blend we served to The Spokesman-Review’s reader food panel drew mixed ratings, with scores split almost evenly along the scale from one to five stars.

We’re just waiting for the TV ads featuring funny man Carrot Top.
