Christine Silvernail, the 1993-94 West Coast Conference women’s basketball player of the year from Santa Clara University, was killed in a single-car accident Sunday morning outside Tacoma. She was 25. Silvernail was the sister of former Washington State volleyball star Sarah Silvernail.

Coca-Cola Co. signed with NASCAR to become the official drink of stock-car racing for undisclosed terms, outbidding soft-drink rival PepsiCo Inc.

Basketball recruit Schea Cotton, declared ineligible to attend UCLA after his SAT score was invalidated by the NCAA, has enrolled at a Connecticut prep school, his attorney said.

Fila Holding SpA signed women’s basketball star Nikki McCray to a four-year $1 million endorsement contract, giving the Italian sporting goods company its first endorser from the Women’s National Basketball Association, the company said.
