The Courtyard Building Will Rise From Pit

From Staff Reports

A crane was positioning a pile driver Wednesday in the pit that once held Washington Water Power Co.’s leaky oil tanks.

Out of the hole, said Kim Pearman Gillman, will rise The Courtyard Building, which will connect the steam plant and Seehorn Building.

Together, the three structures will form Steam Plant Square. Gillman is project development manager for the owners, a partnership of Wells & Co. and a subsidiary of WWP.

The Courtyard Building will include one level of underground parking and another at ground level, with two levels of office space above.

Half of the second level will be a terrace connecting the Seehorn Building to the steam plant, which is being converted into a commercial building.

Gillman said the structures will have a total of 66,000 square feet of office, retail and restaurant space, with 40 parking spaces.

Completion of the project is expected sometime next summer.
