With star receiver Caleb Bowman held in check, senior tailback Kurt Berkley responded with 309 yards and four touchdowns as Sandpoint ran past Coeur d’Alene 43-6 Friday in an Inland Empire League football game at Viking Field in Couer d’Alene.

With seconds left in the third quarter, Bulldogs coach Satini Puailoa pulled Berkley, who was 46 yards short of Jeremy Thielbahr’s school rushing record.

The Vikings are 0-1 IEL, 1-5 overall. Sandpoint is 2-0, 4-2, after its third win in a row over the Vikings.

Lake City 27, Lewiston 26

Trailing 20-0 after two quarters, the Timberwolves put together an improbable rally to upset the No. 1-ranked Bengals in an Inland Empire League game at Lake City.

It was LC’s first league win after going 0-12 its first three years and opening conference play last week with a 33-21 loss at Sandpoint.
