Bruised Shoulder Has Justice’s Status For Today’s Game Up In Air

Associated Press

An MRI on David Justice’s left shoulder revealed no tear, but a bruised rotator cuff makes his status questionable for Game 3 today.

Justice hurt himself diving back to second base on a pickoff attempt by Jimmy Key in the first inning of Game 2. He asked manager Mike Hargrove to take him out of the game in the eighth inning, and Jeff Branson pinch-hit for him.

Justice received treatment Friday and skipped the team workout. Hargrove said he wouldn’t have been able to play if there had been a game Friday, but left open the possibility that Justice could DH today.

“He’s pretty tough,” Hargrove said. “He said, ‘I’ll play with pain as long as I’m not a detriment to the team.”’
