Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Help! I know you have printed this hint before, but I have misplaced it.

I have a set of metal car keys that have rust on them. How can I remove the rust? - Carol Kin, Kenosha, Wis.

Help is on the way! You can use one of two things that you probably have on hand.

Vinegar is a great rust remover. Just soak the keys overnight in a container filled with white household vinegar. Then scrub with a brush, rinse and dry well.

The rust can also be removed by soaking the keys in lubricating oil using the same method.

Vinegar is so versatile that I have compiled a pamphlet full of its many uses and put it with the everpopular baking soda one. - Heloise
