The China Chasm

Pun Chuin-leuk holds a Taiwanese flag while being interviewed during a celebration of Taiwan’s National Day held by pro-democracy activists Friday in Hong Kong. The government of Hong Kong, ceded to the People’s Republic of China by Great Britain in July, has banned displays of the Nationalist Chinese flag, and policemen later demanded that Pun remove the banner.
