First Couple’s Day

Saturday seemed a day custom-made for golf: clear, sunny, unseasonably clement in the nation’s capital. But it was also President Clinton’s 22nd wedding anniversary, and he was taking no chances on upsetting his bride. After studying for this week’s trip to Latin America, holed up for six hours in a private study off the Oval Office, he got down to the important business. He said that he and Hillary would celebrate their 22 years of marriage with a private dinner at home. The menu? “I have to see what she wants,” he said with a shrug.
