Penn State Returns To No. 1 Idle Washington State 13th In Both Major Football Polls
Penn State is back on top again.
The Nittany Lions regained the No. 1 ranking in The Associated Press’ Top 25 college football poll on Sunday following LSU’s 28-21 upset of Florida on Saturday night.
The Gators (5-1), who took over the top spot from Penn State on Sept. 21, tumbled to No. 7, while the Lions (5-0) were the solid choice for No. 1.
Penn State, a 31-27 winner over Ohio State, received 51 first-place votes and 1,724 points from the 70 sports writers and broadcasters.
The Nittany Lions also moved into first-place in the USA Today/ESPN poll.
Washington State, which was leap-frogged by LSU, is 13th in both polls. Washington, which defeated California 30-3, is eighth in the USA Today/ESPN poll and 10th in the AP poll.
Washington State plays California in Pullman on Saturday.
LSU moved from No. 14 to No. 8.
