Police Find Drugs In Car, Arrest Pair

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police found seven bags of cocaine and three bags of methampetamine in a white Oldsmobile on Saturday night, according to Spokane police spokesman Dick Cottam.

The car’s driver, 27-year-old Toby Lee Olson Jr., was booked into jail on possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, burglary, hit and run, obstructing an officer and driving with a suspended license.

Olson had parked the car in the 2200 block of West Broadway, Cottam said. He and his passenger, 27-year-old Kelly Wagner, fled from the vehicle when they saw a patrol car approach.

A check showed the license plate on the Oldsmobile belongs to a red Honda. It also showed the car had just been involved in a hit and run accident with another car at Broadway and Chestnut.

Police used a dog to sniff out Olson, who was found hiding in a backyard shed.

Wagner also was caught by police. She kicked at police until restrained, Cottam said, and was booked into jail on possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

In addition to the drugs, police found $500 and a pager in the car, Cottam said.
