Program To Discuss Sex Offender Law

The Spokane County Bench-Bar-Press Committee is holding a free public program Saturday about sex offender notification laws.

The media, law enforcement and the legal community will explore the purpose and impact of laws that require sex offenders to register after serving their sentences.

The panel also will talk about publicizing the names and addresses of registered sex offenders.

The audience is invited to participate in the discussion.

The program will be held at the Jepson Auditorium at Gonzaga University. Coffee and other refreshments will be available at 9 a.m., and the program will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The Bench-Bar-Press Committee is a group of Spokane residents who work in the media, law enforcement, the bar and the judiciary.

The committee meets quarterly to discuss issues of mutual concern.
