The Medical Lake offensive line opened holes big enough for a Carr to get through, and by the end of Friday’s 41-35 win over Deer Park Aaron Carr had 319 yards on 18 carries.

“The linemen opened those holes up; they were huge,” Carr said. “The fullback, Brandon Moore, made some just incredible blocks. You can’t run anywhere without a line, I don’t care how good you are.”

Carr just happens to be good, as are Brandon and Vince Moore and the fourth Cardinal running back, Mike Chappell. The Moore brothers combined for 215 yards against the Stags, and Chappell stayed on defense.

Rotating running backs doesn’t bother Carr.

“(Assistant) Coach (Larry) Petersen is good about it,” he said. “If you have a good series, you stay in until you need a break. It’s not hard to get into it; it’s just like riding a bike, you never forget.”

But Carr didn’t know he was biking the Tour de France.

“I had no idea,” he said. “I said to coach, ‘Do I have a hundred-yard game?’ He said, ‘I would say so.”’ However, no one knows if he has a record, which mirrors the Cardinals’ approach of one game at a time.

“I’ll have to look it up, we’ve had some pretty good backs in the past,” ML coach John Giannandrea said. “I don’t know what the record is but he’s probably pretty close.”
