Some Coeur D’Alene Polling Places Change Absentee Ballots Ready At City Hall, Courthouse

There will be a few changes in polling places for the upcoming city election, City Clerk Susan Weathers said.

Most people will vote at the same location they voted during the general election. However, people should double-check their precinct and polling location for changes.

Absentee ballots for the upcoming city election now are available at City Hall and the Kootenai County Courthouse. City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Voters should go to the city clerk’s office.

The Kootenai County Court House is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. People should go to the elections office.

Registered voters need no identification. People who are not registered to vote can both register and vote on election day if they bring proof of a current address, such as a driver’s license.

However, people wanting to register to vote must have lived at their current address since Oct. 4.

It is not possible to just register without voting. Registration closed Oct. 10 to allow election officials to complete the polling books.

There are six candidates running for three seats on the Coeur d’Alene City Council. They are civic volunteer Nancy Sue Wallace, attorney Susan Servick, logger Stan Smith, businesswoman Deanna Goodlander, real estate salesman Manny Olvera and businessman Hank Roseth.

Mayor A.J. “Al” Hassell is running for a second term against political newcomer Steve Judy. Hassell is a partner in an insurance and financial services company. Judy is human resources director at North Idaho Immediate Care.
