Fish And Wildlife Service Investigates Death Of Wolf
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is investigating the death of a wolf found near Elk River.
The animal apparently had migrated into Idaho from western Montana. The discovery of its body was reported Saturday to Nez Perce Tribe wolf biologist Timm Kaminski. The wolf had been dead for several weeks.
Fish and Wildlife enforcement agent Roger Parker in Spokane said Thursday that the carcass was sent to the National Fish and Wildlife Forensics Lab in Ashland, Ore.
The carcass was so decomposed, Parker said, that the agency will await the results of tests to determine if the animal had been shot.
