Obituaries

Cora Ovnicek Elk, Wash.

Visitation for Cora E. Ovnicek, 74, is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Country Church of the Open Bible in Elk. Burial will follow at the Elk Cemetery.

Mrs. Ovnicek, who died Wednesday, was born in Wanetta, Mont.

She had lived in Spokane since in 1944, moving from Montana and was a homemaker.

Her husband, A.E. ‘Buck’ Ovnicek, died in 1990.

Mrs. Ovnicek was a member of Stoneridge Ladies Golf Club, Rockchuck Bowling League, Elk Tops Club, Inland Grange and Deer Park Eagles Lodge 3564.

She was a charter member of the Elks Belles Bowling League and the Deer Park Senior League.

Mrs. Ovnicek is survived by four sons, Con Ovnicek of Newman Lake, Gene Ovnicek of Kalispell, Mont., Ron Ovnicek of Deer Park and Ed Ovnicek of Chattaroy; her mother, Edith Behmerwohld of Spokane; two brothers, Chester “Cork” Tempero of Chattaroy and Manford Tempero of Hot Springs, Mont.; three sisters, Leora Jensen and Stella Sellmer both of Heron, Mont., and Ruth Welsch of Spokane; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Roberta Krick Deer Park

Service for Roberta Kay Krick, 56, will be at 2:15 p.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church in Deer Park. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Krick, who was born in Sagle, Idaho, died Thursday.

In 1959, she married Robert Krick in Deer Park.

She was a homemaker and lived in the Williams Valley area.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ken Krick of Spokane and Norman Krick of Deer Park; two daughters Julie Price of Deer Park and Anna Trinkle of Austin, Tex.; 11 brothers and sisters, and 11 grandchildren.

Lucille Pound Spokane

No service will be held for Lucille R. Pound, 88, at her request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pound, who was born in Opportunity, died Thursday.

She worked as bookkeeper for the University of Idaho.

Mrs. Pound was a Spokane resident for 28 years.

Her husband, John Pound, died in 1987.

She was a member of Neighbors of the Woodcraft.

Survivors include three brothers, Fritz Reinbolt of Jacksonville, Fla., Glenn Reinbolt of Kuna, Idaho, and Carl Reinbolt of Seattle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Helen Powers Spokane

Memorial service for Helen E. Powers, 95, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riverview Terrace. Burial was at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Powers, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Thursday.

She was a graduate of North Central High School and Washington State College.

In 1938 she married E.L. Powers.

They farmed in the Palouse area for many years.

In 1949 they moved to Spokane.

Her husband died in 1983.

Mrs. Powers was a member of the Woman’s Club and Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She was instrumental in founding many garden clubs and served on the Washington Governor’s Council.

Mrs. Powers is survived by a son, Robert Spink.

Bobby Thurman Davenport, Wash.

Service for Bobby Joe Thurman, 65, was Saturday at Davenport Assembly of God Church. Graveside service was at the Davenport Cemetery.

Born in Cheyenne, Okla., Mr. Thurman died Thursday.

He retired from the Air Force in 1971, as a staff sergeant. He also retired from the Postal Service, where he was a rural mail carrier.

Survivors include his wife Bobby June; nine sons, Joe Thurman of Astoria, Ore., Gary Thurman of Almira, Wash., Brian Thurman of Choctaw, Okla., Jerry Thurman of Rocklyn, Wash., Terry Thurman of Enid, Okla., Bobby Thurman Jr., of Spokane, Shane Thurman of Fairbanks, Alaska, David Thurman of Davenport and Dwayne Thurman of Virginia; a sister, Mary Jane Click of Baton Rouge, La.; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davenport Emergency Medical Technicians.

William Fiedler Spokane

Private service for William G. Fiedler, 73, will be held at a later date. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fiedler, who was born in Hancock, Minn., died Wednesday.

He worked as a commercial architect and had lived in Spokane for 51 years.

He was a member of Assumption Parish and Sundance Men’s Club. He served in the Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, William and Scott Fiedler; three sisters, Linda Varner, Sandra Fiedler and Carol McMichael, all of Spokane; three brothers, Frank, Jack and Bob Fiedler; a sister, Mary Ellen Miller; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
