Woman Charged With Assaulting Officers

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Hayden Lake, Idaho, woman started her Saturday morning wielding a tire iron and ended it in jail, a Spokane Police Department spokesman said.

Police took a tire iron from Katheryn McDonald, 35, when it appeared she was going to use it on another woman she was arguing with near Sprague and Pittsburg, said Dick Cottam, police spokesman.

Two hours later, McDonald drove her van on the rims of two flat tires down East Riverside. When an officer stopped her, McDonald was abusive and didn’t produce a driver’s license or proof of insurance, Cottam said.

According to police reports, McDonald kicked and scratched the three officers arresting her. They cuffed her hands and restrained her legs.

She then attacked the officers and two jailers when taken to jail, the report said. One of the jailers went to a hospital to have a scratch checked.

McDonald was booked into jail on five counts of felony assault. She also was cited for defective equipment on the van, negligent driving and having no proof of insurance. The van had no license plates, and McDonald’s Idaho driver’s license was suspended.
