Cordero Trial Delayed

The spousal abuse trial of former Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilfredo Cordero in Cambridge, Mass., is off until Nov. 4 because his new lawyers need more time to prepare their case .

Jury selection was to have begun Monday before Cambridge District Judge Roanne Sragow.

Former San Francisco Giants pitcher John Montefusco, charged last week with beating and raping his ex-wife, remained jailed in Freehold, N.J., unable to raise $6,000 bail.

Montefusco, 47, of Middletown, allegedly went to the Marlboro home of Doris D. Montefusco, cut the telephone wires and held her captive for 1-1/2 hours.
