Straw-Bale House Work Continues

Work continues on Spokane’s first straw-bale residence, with completion and an open house scheduled for mid-December.

So far, close to 2,000 hours of volunteer labor have gone into the project, which was conceived by Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs (SNAP) as an alternative way of providing energy-efficient, affordable housing.

Tasks still to do include preparing walls for plaster or stucco, applying stucco, and landscaping. If you have time or landscape materials to donate, contact SNAP at 532-6225.

The straw-bale house is at 2527 E. Eighth.
