D.J. Must Avoid Wife

Associated Press

Dennis Johnson was ordered to leave his home Tuesday and stay away from his wife after she accused him of grabbing her throat and holding a knife to her face.

Orlando, Fla., Judge Stan Strickland set a $5,000 bond for Johnson and told him he could return home only to collect clothes and personal items.

Johnson posted bonded and left jail Tuesday afternoon. No arraignment date was set.

Johnson, 43, who played on three NBA championship teams, was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence. His wife was not injured.

Police said that Johnson grabbed Donna Johnson, his wife of 21 years, and held a knife to her face during an argument at their home.

Rodman sets deadline for contract

Dennis Rodman said Tuesday that he and Bulls general manager Jerry Krause have agreed to a Thursday deadline to settle his contract dispute.

The Bulls want Rodman, but only if he signs an incentive-laden contract with a base salary of $4.5 million. The value of the pact doubles if Rodman adheres to certain behavioral stipulations and reaches incentives related to personal performance, such as rebounding.

A sticking point for Rodman is incentives related to team performance. Rodman believes team goals are out of his control.
