Jean Anderson Elected President Of Alpha Nu State

Jean Anderson, a member of the Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and former chapter president and current treasurer, was recently elected vice president of Alpha Nu State and was selected as one of 30 to participate in this year’s International Golden Gift Leadership/Management Seminar at the University of Texas graduate school.

Anderson, an Athol resident and former educator with general, secondary, and administrative life credentials, started the Gift Program for her district and will learn more about grant writing at the seminar. She also directed the District Instructional Materials Center and school libraries.

She was responsible for writing grant projects and curriculum materials and guides and is currently assisting in creating a library at the Coeur d’Alene Women’s Shelter with the help of the Post Falls Rotary.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is the largest society of women educators of its kind with a membership of 160,000, with seven chapters in Idaho.

Aaron Longwell and Alison Chisholm, both Lake City High School seniors, have been selected as the September and October Coeur d’Alene Rotary students of the month, respectively.

Longwell has a 4.0 grade-point average and has been selected as a National Merit semi-finalist (testing in the top one half of 1 percent of more than a million juniors who tested) and an Eagle Scout.

Longwell is active in wakeboarding, mountain biking, church activity, snowboarding, and hockey.

He is a Natural Helper and a member of Idaho Drug Free Youth and has been a Trail Creek counselor.

Longwell spends 20 hours a week doing computer work and hopes to pursue a career in administration/management and design/advertising.

Chisholm, an honors student with a 4.0 grade-point average and a multisport athlete, has earned academic letters for 1996 and 1997 and has four varsity soccer letters, ran track and played junior varsity basketball.

Chisholm is a member of the LCHS Ladies Select Chorus, the National Honor Society, is a National Merit Commended Student and is co-captain of the Timberwolves Soccer team.

She was All-league first team, played wing on the 1997 State champion Girls U-18 Sting Team and traveled with the Idaho State Olympic Dev. Soccer team to compete in Western U.S. Regional Camp for a third year.

Chilsholm is a Natural Helper, Peer Mediator, member of Idaho Drug Free Youth and Young Volunteers of America and past delegate to the ELCA National Youth Convention from Trinity Lutheran Church.

She hopes to play soccer at Stanford or Whitman next year and will pursue a career as a cardiothoracic surgeon.
