Personal: Age 44 … video store manager, former daycare operator … has lived in community 21 years … married, four children, youngest will graduate from East Valley High School this year … interested in reading, horseback riding and walking … served 12 years on East Valley board. Cecil was fined this year and two years ago by the state Public Disclosure Commission for failure to file financial disclosure documents on time. She disputes both actions.

Education: Marycliff High School … favorite class, English literature … least favorite, biology … Is reading “The Firm.”

Issues: Trying to offer a full program to children of all needs, gifted and talented students, at risk students and average students … overseeing the expansion of the Continuous Curriculum School, newly opened this fall, and the Success Academy, East Valley’s alternative program for high school students … offering the best education within the district’s budget.

Accomplishments: The district’s continuous building program … establishment of the Success Academy and the Continuous Curriculum School … keeping a cash reserve on hand.

If I were king for a day: Make the state pay for all K-12 education expenses. “Money’s not always the answer, but it certainly helps.”
