A Nov. 3 town hall meeting on fish may appeal to anyone who is fed up to the gills with election campaigns.

The public forum features two panels of policy makers and scientists, including Bern Shanks, director of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Topics will include the status of salmon, trout and other fish in the region; policies for protecting the fish; watershed management; and how hatcheries and pollution affect fish.

Other panelists include Bob Halleck, deputy field supervisor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; Dave James, president of the Spokane chapter of Trout Unlimited; fish biologists for the Colville National Forest; representatives of Colville Confederated Tribes and the University of Montana; and the manager of the Colville Tribes’ Lake Roosevelt monitoring program.

The event, sponsored by the Kettle Range Conservation Group, will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Colville High School.
