Blizzard Too Much For Reign

Jennifer Rizzotti scored all 10 of her points in a 14-0 run in the first quarter, sparking the New England Blizzard to a 79-65 victory Friday night over the Seattle Reign in Hartford, Conn.

Carolyn Jones added 26 points and five steals for New England (2-2).

Val Whiting led Seattle (1-4) with 22 points, 15 in the final quarter when the Reign outscored New England 30-19.

Kara Wolters, making her first start in the ABL, scored three early baskets and had two blocks, helping New England to a 29-12 lead after the first quarter. Wolters finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Seattle’s Kate Starbird finished with 12 points on 2-for-9 shooting.

Natalie Williams scored 20 points to lead host Portland over Columbus.

The Power (4-0) led 29-26 at halftime and did not allow the Quest (2-2) a field goal in the final 7 minutes.

Columbus’ Angie Potoff scored on a 10-foot baseline jumper with 7:37 left in the fourth quarter, capping a 6-0 run to tie the score at 53-53.
