World and Olympic champion Deborah Compagnoni of Italy won the opening World Cup giant slalom by nearly 2 seconds, one day after having lost in the first round of the women’s parallel race.

Germany’s Martina Ertl was second at 2:26.72 and Sweden’s Martine Fortkord took third at 2:27.30.
