S. Korea Tests New Missile

Associated Press

South Korea successfully test-fired its first locally developed short-range, surface-to-air guided missile on Monday, the Defense Ministry said. The missile is part of the country’s long-term program to develop its own defense industry.

The missile has a 6-mile range, high mobility and an advanced guidance system, a ministry statement said. Under an agreement with the United States, South Korea cannot develop missiles with a range longer than 112 miles.
